About the Item

We have this gorgeously toned, fauvist-inspired Pointillist Coastal landscape for sale. An extremely vibrant and sunny scene with trees and Maine coastal beaches in the back. Very cute little painted yacht in the far. Frank Whiteside, born in 1866 in Philadelphia, was a renowned portrait painter who studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Academie Julian in Paris. He taught art in schools and was a member of various clubs. He was known to paint Maine coastal beaches like this one. Whiteside also toured California and the Southwest, painting Native American cultures and lifestyles. His work was nearly forgotten until 1971 when the Phoenix Art Museum showcased his work, "Frank Reed Whiteside (1866-1929): The Zuni and The Indian Country," with two of his paintings given to the White House.
